About Verity Longpar

Welcome to my site! My name is Verity. I work as a receptionist in a dentist office. Every day for the past 20 years, I have come in to the office, worked on paperwork, and greeted patients. I love my job, because it has helped me meet a lot of really wonderful people. I have seen families grow up! But an added benefit from my job is that I have also picked up some small information about dentistry. I'm not one of the dentists, but I do know quite a bit about simple procedures and basic dental hygiene. Hopefully this blog can teach you something, but remember to always consult with your actual dentist for real professional advice!

2 Dental Applications To Help Transform Blemished Teeth

Eleanor Crawford

Transforming the appearance of your teeth does not have to be lengthy or cumbersome. Here are two dental services that can quickly help blemished teeth appear more attractive:

Dental Veneers

If you have sustained a crack or chip in a tooth or if you have dental discoloration that cannot be treated by bleaching solutions, you may be looking for a way to simply cover the imperfections of your teeth. One of the best dental applications for concealing imperfections is the dental veneer.

Dental veneers are made from composite resin or dental ceramic material. Each veneer is a thin covering that is shaped like the front of the underlying tooth and is cemented into place. A veneer is designed to cover only the front surface of a tooth.

Dental veneers are constructed from a mold of the patient's teeth, so the application looks completely natural. In addition, the color of a dental veneer is selected, so the veneers can be matched to the current color of a patient's other teeth if only a single veneer is used, such as in the concealment of a crack or chip. If veneers are used to transform the color of a patient's teeth or to correct a misalignment, the whitest shade available can be selected, since all of the displayed teeth are covered.

Sometimes, veneers may be the only methods available to whiten the teeth. Dental discoloration from food pigments can usually be removed using dental bleaches, but if discoloration is permanent because it has originated from a birth defect or from dental trauma, veneers are needed.

Dental veneers usually cost about $500 to $1,100 for each tooth that is treated. Thus, it is often best to only treat the teeth that are visible when you laugh or smile.

Composite Bonding Material

Dental bonding material is usually made of acrylic resin. The material, which is pliable during its application, is hardened onto the teeth with a special light. Like dental veneers, dental bonding material can conceal imperfections. However, the pliable nature of the material can also allow it to fill in missing components of a tooth.

The application of composite bonding material usually only requires a single dental appointment, and the material used can be matched to that of the patient's natural tooth color. An application of dental bonding is generally priced between $300 and $600.
