About Verity Longpar

Welcome to my site! My name is Verity. I work as a receptionist in a dentist office. Every day for the past 20 years, I have come in to the office, worked on paperwork, and greeted patients. I love my job, because it has helped me meet a lot of really wonderful people. I have seen families grow up! But an added benefit from my job is that I have also picked up some small information about dentistry. I'm not one of the dentists, but I do know quite a bit about simple procedures and basic dental hygiene. Hopefully this blog can teach you something, but remember to always consult with your actual dentist for real professional advice!

5 Teeth Whitening Mistakes To Avoid

Eleanor Crawford

The benefits of having a brighter smile may include being more self-confident and having a higher quality of life. The good news is teeth whitening is a procedure your dental professional can do with ease. However, there are inevitable mistakes you'll want to avoid and knowing what some of these are may be helpful to you.

Mistake #1: Not consulting with your dentist

It's ideal to talk to your dental provider to ensure this is something you should do. You'll want to make sure your teeth are healthy and that the bleaching process won't damage your teeth.

Additionally, the best time to get this done is after you've had a professional cleaning at the dental office.

Mistake #2: Purchasing products online

If you want to get the best results from your efforts, you will want to see a dentist that can do this for you. This will allow the maximum amount of whitening product to be used and will render the best results.

It's not advisable to purchase your whitening products online because these may not be good for your teeth. You will only want to use things on your teeth that won't cause any damage.

Mistake #3: Failing to brush or floss

It's always in your best interest to start with clean teeth before having this done. You will want to be sure to brush and floss ahead of your teeth whitening appointment.

Mistake #4: Not maintaining the results

If you want to have teeth that are consistently white and that doesn't show staining after having this done, you will need to invest into doing some touch-ups. It's a great idea to take the trays home from your dental provider and use these to maintain your whiter teeth.

This will only require a small amount of your time and will allow you to continue to have the whitest teeth in the process.

Mistake #5: Failing to ask about cost

It's likely your dental insurance won't cover the expense of having your teeth whitened. This is something you should be prepared to pay for you on own, and it's a great idea to ask about the cost of this.

Taking time to have whiter teeth is always a great idea. This can help you feel your best and look it in the process. Be sure to schedule an appointment today with your dentist to have a professional whitening for your teeth done!
